About this deal

With Smart Chord and Smart Scale technology, creating music and transferring what’s in your imagination to what you hear coming out of your computer has never been easier! After installing the application, find and open the iLok License Manager from your Programs or Applications folder. Mapped and ready to go. Skip the tedious mapping of controls thanks to the auto-mapping capabilities of the Oxygen Pro. When using the Oxygen Pro with any mainstream DAW, you can select the map and the keyboard controls will be automatically mapped to your music software. You can start straight away thanks to auto-mapping, with every control in your arsenal ready and waiting. Automatically mapped functions including Transport, Pan controls and a whole host more.

production tools to streamline your creative process. Delve into worlds of unchartered expression and creativity, With assignable zones across the keyboard, you can get exactly the performance you want from the Oxygen Pro 49. About the Smart Chord and Smart Scale features, M‑Audio say they make it ‘easy to craft a perfect song’. Whilst one of those was sadly not forthcoming for me during the test period (and I’d have even settled for slightly imperfect) they have their uses for players and producers who aren’t fluent keyboard players, or struggle with some aspects of music theory. Essentially both are a kind of note quantise scheme. You start by telling the Oxygen Pro what key you want to work in, then the chord voicing or scale type (and many of both are available, from mainstream to more exotic), and it channels you into theoretical correctness. Build quality, judging from the Oxygen Pro 49 I had on test, is good. The chassis is all plastic but inspires confidence. It’s light but not too light, and doesn’t flex at all in normal use. All the controls are firmly mounted and smooth in operation, the buttons quite stiff and shallow, and the small OLED screen is clear, bright and crisp. With plenty of performance features, DAW control and programmability, have M‑Audio found the winning formula in the MIDI controller‑keyboard game?

M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 MIDI Controller Overview

Want to make music but don’t know music theory? Fear not, the Oxygen Pro 49 has you covered. The Smart Chord feature will trigger a full chord from a single key when the mode is activated. You can change the chord properties and use your own progressions to make it easier than ever to create the chords you want. I've only used my Pro 49 with MPC Beats, which required some mapping (the factory preset in MPC Beats didn't work, and this was not caused by the Pro 49), so I can't commend yet on it's compatibility/use with other DAWs. Everything the modern music creator demands is here, engineered to put your creativity firmly in the driving seat. It Note Repeat allows you to hold down any of the custom-made M-Audio performance pads and you’ll hear a repeated rhythmic pattern at a selectable note division. The Note Repeat feature can be activated momentarily or can be used in Latch mode. If you choose Momentary, holding the Note Repeat button will make the note played by the pad automatically repeat. If you choose Latch, pressing any pad will cause its assigned note to repeat without you having to hold down the Note Repeat button. You can trigger repeats and rolls for as long as you keep a pad depressed or, in Latch Mode, indefinitely. The Oxygen Pro’s feature-set is rich and you’ll need time to recognise just how deeply it can integrate with your DAW.

This unit opened up the Pandora's box within Logic that I was told had been waiting for me. I had no idea the plethora of sounds I would be experiencing as well as the ability to operate every feature in Logic with a single button, pad or key on the controller, and having integrate with EZ Drummer3 is also a big plus. Using the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 with any mainstream DAW couldn't easier thanks to it's easy-to-read OLED screen. Virtual Instruments:Multi-oscillator synthesiser – Hybrid 3, Electric Piano - Velvet, Acoustic Piano - Mini Grand, Analogue synth - Vacuum, Vintage drum machine – Boom, Classic Organ – DB-33Play like never before thanks to the premium-quality, semi-weighted keybed. The best-in-class keys brings in the next generation of playability featuring Precision Touch technology to translate your playing style with extreme precision. The keybed utilises advanced scanning technology to capture every nuance of your performance. Getting DAW control going relies on configuring the software of your choice to communicate with some or all of the Oxygen Pro’s four virtual USB MIDI ports. This was my setup for Ableton Live: I found I further had to enable some of the Sync options (not documented in M‑Audio’s walkthroughs) to get the arpeggiator to sync to Live’s tempo.M‑Audio bandy around the term ‘auto‑mapped’ quite a bit in their blurb, but it’s more accurate to say that the roles of the hardware sliders, buttons and knobs for each DAW are pre‑mapped, and the underlying configurations saved like presets into the Oxygen Pro’s internal memory. There’s nothing like the complexity of Novation’s old Automap system (or indeed M‑Audio’s now‑defunct HyperControl), which promised tight two‑way communication between DAW and controller via all sorts of additional software and/or ‘wrapped’ plug‑ins: a great shame, or a blessed relief, depending on your expectations and aspirations. Build quality, judging from the Oxygen Pro 49 Ihad on test, is good. The chassis is all plastic but inspires confidence. It’s light but not too light, and doesn’t flex at all in normal use. All the controls are firmly mounted and smooth in operation, the buttons quite stiff and shallow, and the small OLED screen is clear, bright and crisp.” With this new update, your Oxygen Pro 49will now be automatically detected when connected with Ableton, hence pre-mapped to have all the controls you want at your fingertips. Learn more here. To provide the most versatile controller, the Oxygen Pro series has 2 modes, Preset and DAW mode. When in DAW mode all of the controls will be used for controlling DAW functions and controls. When in Preset mode all of the controls will be used for controlling Virtual Instrument parameters and controls.

With its 16 RGB pads, 8 assignable knobs and buttons and 9 assignable faders, not to mention the 49 semi-weighted keys, the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 is an excellent USB powered MIDI controller. The AIR team has released standalone software versions of the Hybrid, Mini Grand, and Velvet plugins. These apps will install on your computer when you run the plugin installers from the M-Audio Software Manager. These standalone programs are great to play with if you're not looking to use a DAW and just want to plug in the Oxygen Pro and make some noise! The M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 features 49 best-in-class, velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted keys with aftertouch. Using the Encoder directly below the OLED screen, scroll to PC, and the press the Encoder to enter into selecting your OS. The Input Ports section in MIDI/Sync Preferences will display all available MIDI input ports in a list. Devices will automatically appear in the list when connected provided that Enable MIDI ports when discovered is set to ON.

What Makes Our Sales Engineers Great?

effortlessly bring your production ideas to life. Root your focus on creating music – not programming your software. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. M-audio has just launched a software update that further enhances the capabilities of its controllers. Version 2.1.1 for the Oxygen Pro 49adds a lot of new features, including: automatically mapped core functions including Transport, Faders, Pan controls and more, directly to the hardware controls With Smart Chord activated, pressing a single key will play a full chord rather than just one note. The key you press will determine the root note in the chord. The rest of the chord’s properties (Major, Minor, and Voicing) are determined by the settings you choose. Smart Chord also has a Custom Mode which lets you determine the chord structure that will be assigned to each key by manually playing it. For example, if you select Custom Mode, and play a 1-b3-5-b7 chord, every key will then be assigned to play this chord structure. The note of the key you press will serve as the root of the chord and all the parameters can be edited right on your Oxygen keyboard controller.

Not only that but there is an onboard arpeggiator which is great for creating rhythmic melodies and changing patterns. You can also customise the way the arpeggiator works by using the Type, Octave, Gate and Swing controls so you can truly create what you hear in your head. Sample, trigger and drum with velocity-sensitive pads When Master is enabled, MIDI data from this port will always go to the currently selected program in your project. The creative possibilities in my studio now seem infinite, it's all up to me now to produce something worthy. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered

M-Audio’s Oxygen controller keyboard range now has a Pro division, and it is a breath of fresh air...

It can be hard to translate your ideas into music at the best of times but with Smart Chord and Smart Scale technology, you can do this with a few touches. When activated, Smart Scale mode allows you to configure the keybed to one of 16 scale variations, making the keybed only play notes within that selected scale. This eliminates any errors when playing live or recording, perfect for those just learning how to play. Auto-mapped DAW controls and assignable knobs
